Q:

Can I sign my student up for one or two classes?

A:

HsAP is an all day (Monday's 8:30-3:00pm) program for students 1st-8th grade. Classes are not offered separately. See Classes by grade on the home page.
All classes are taught by our excellent teaching staff, who have had many years classroom teaching experience. All subjects are taught from a Christian Worldview.

Our HsAP High School classes are a la carte. Check the HsAP High School link above. Your students can sign up for up to 3 classes and Study Hall.

Q:

Are there payment options for the tuition? Are there scholarships available for people in need?

A:

The HsAP Board has established a very affordable price for an all day program ($3.50/class per Monday). At this time, there are no scholarship funds. Half of your students tuition is due at the parent information meeting held at the homeschool building in August. The balance in due in November. See the Tuition info above.

Homeschool Partnerships:
To best serve the HsAP families, the HsAP Board has decided that we will not invoice nor receive payments from partnerships. It is the families responsibility to forward your invoice to the homeschool partnership and make payment arrangements. You are responsible for Registration Fees. And responsible to pay HsAP Tuition by due dates: Half Tuition by August 27 and in full by November 19.

As far as working directly with families, Paris Academy is the best option to consider for Homeschool Partnerships. All Homeschool Partnerships will require some kind of online commitment/responsibility. All Partnerships will require registration with the Public School they are associated with. All Partnerships require some kind of response/reporting on Count Days (they will provide info for all of this).

The Paris Academy https://theparisacademy.org/ — will cover at least all of the electives. Maybe more. Check with them for more details.

Q:

Are there any other fee's like books, copy fee's, etc.

A:

This past year, each student provided their own crayons, water colors, pencils. It is up to the tutor whether there is a text required. 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade Worthy Writing class and 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade Conversational Spanish class do requre textbooks. See the Class descriptions for these classes for detailed information.

HsAP provides all students with a t-shirt with HsAP logo that students are required to wear each Monday (color coded per class, with name embroidered on shirt.) If you would like to purchase an Additional T-Shirt for $10, complete and submit the Additional T-Shirt Order Form under the FORMS menu.

Supply Lists will be available in August.

We are a PEANUT FREE And TREE NUT FREE program. In order to keep all students safe, please do not bring snacks or lunches with peanuts and or tree nuts. This includes Trail Mixes and Granola Bars.

In order to keep content fresh and engaging, subjects are taught on a rotating two-year cycle.

Q:

Are parents required to stay at the homeschool building the entire day while their children are involved in classes? Are parents required to help in classrooms?

A:

HsAP is a drop off program. After checking in your student for the day at the registration table, parents may go enjoy your day. We are not a co-op. Parents are not asked to teach.

However, we do value our parents in the classroom as Parent Helpers. We ask each family to sign up for three Mondays during [number of days may vary due to enrollment] the school year September-April to come for the day and be a "Parent Helper." We ask that you assist in the classroom with whatever the teacher may need, help with the lunch, PE, keep the kids on time going to their classes etc. We do our best to keep parents with their own students.

Please do not bring children not enrolled in the program with you on your Parent Helper day.

We ask that you not send grandparents or older siblings unless it is a special situation that you discuss with the Board.

Q:

Also, are the teachers certified, do they go through a screening?

A:

All our teachers have classroom experience in private, public and homeschool settings. Most of them are MI certified. We check all references and perform a thorough interviewing process.

Q:

Is there homework given for the children? What curriculum's do the teachers use, if any?

A:

Our 1st-4th grade classes are considered Enrichment Classes. There may be supportive handouts that are sent home or posted on the Homework and Class Updates Thread. Updates are posted weekly for most classes.

5th-8th grade classes are a mix of Academic and Enrichment Classes. Some classes will have homework weekly. Handouts may be sent home, most will be posted on the Homework and Class Updates Thread. See Class Descriptions for more information.

Curriculums will vary. Teachers present their year syllabus at the Parent Information meeting held in August.

A:

2018-2019 will mark our 5th year offering High School Classes. These classes are a la carte. We do offer Study Hall as well.
